Personal records are not ordinary product data. They can include health, money, relationships, unfinished thoughts, and private routines. ISEA's local-first design starts from that reality.
The local-first card on the landing page is not only a security claim. It is a product posture: the device is the primary home, and cloud behavior should be explicit, limited, and understandable.
What local-first changes
A local-first app can keep core use available even when the network is poor or unavailable. More importantly, it gives users a clearer mental model: private records begin on the device, not on a remote service.
For ISEA, that means:
- local storage remains the default place for user-created records
- sync is a user-controlled capability, not an assumption
- sensitive categories can stay device-only
- offline use remains a real product path
Privacy as everyday ergonomics
Privacy should not require constant configuration. Good defaults matter. The user should be able to capture life quickly and still trust that the system is not over-sharing by design.
That is the reason for the local-first foundation. It keeps the product useful in normal life while preserving a boundary around the most personal data.
